2 brothers in the P.U.P. camp are casualties of immigration scandal
On Friday we told you about Martin Cal, a candidate on the People’s United Party municipal slate in Belmopan. Cal was asked to step down by party officials after his name came up in the Auditor-General’s report. He and another person were recommenders for at least four foreign nationals who were named in the Won Hong Kim/Elvin Penner immigration scandal. While Cal was a casualty of the immigration scandal, his brother Moises Cal remained as Chairman of the Western Caucus of the People’s United Party. On Friday, P.U.P. Deputy Leader Julius Espat reported on the Martin Cal situation, and told the media that Moises Cal had called a meeting to consider his own future.

“The Western Caucus…Mister Cal is a different thing. His post is not an appointed post. As the chairman of the Western Caucus, it is an elected post by the caucus himself. And I think there has been communication and Mister Cal has called a meeting and this is what will be on the agenda; his role as chairman. Again he has been very professional about it. He will call the meeting; it will be sometime next week and that decision with him remaining as chairman or not will be a decision that the Western Caucus will make.”
This morning, News Five received an email forwarded from Moises Cal, stating that, “After due consideration and consultation with my family, I am hereby tendering my resignation as Chairman of the Western Caucus. I wish to thank all six Standard Bearers who placed their trust and confidence in me and wish them well in the challenging times ahead leading to Municipal and General Elections.” It is not known at this time who will replace Cal as Chair of the Western Caucus.
A good move I hope when the PUP gets back in control of the government they will raise the bar.
No one has any respect for any elected official any more. What guidance can they offer the youths of the country when they are embroiled in all things illegal.
