Belize At Commonwealth Games 2014
The Commonwealth Games opened earlier today in Glasgow, Scotland. This station is airing the games daily at two o’clock in the afternoons beginning today through August third with two-hour highlights. At the momentous opening ceremonies of Glasgow 2014, the Commonwealth Federation and UNICEF partnered to raise funds for Children of the Commonwealth in a programme called Put Children First. It was a star studded event which included presentations by international singing superstar Nicole Scherzinger and cycling legend Sir Chris Hoy. An estimated one billion viewers from across the Commonwealth experienced the splendour of the opening ceremony and heard from the Head of the commonwealth, Queen Elizabeth, who declared the games officially open. Seventy countries are taking part – the delegation from Belize made its entrance into Celtic Park with Katy Sealy bearing the flag. Belize will be competing in five sporting disciplines: athletics, cycling, shooting, table tennis and triathlon. The delegation comprises twelve athletes including Katy Sealy, Kaina Martinez, Giovanni Lovell, six coaches and officials; the Chief of Mission is Patrick Henry. Here is how Belize entered the arena:
