Maurice Tomlinson To Be Represented At CCJ By Former Court of Appeal Judge

A case management conference was held at the Caribbean Court of Justice this morning in a suit brought against the governments of Belize and Trinidad & Tobago by Jamaican gay rights activist Maurice Tomlinson.  On May eighth, the CCJ handed down a decision granting Tomlinson special leave to challenge the immigration acts of both countries.  According to Tomlinson, the current laws are biased towards prohibited classes which include homosexuals.  News Five has learnt that Tomlinson is now being represented by Douglas Mendez, a former justice of Belize’s Court of Appeal, and will be amending his initial claim.  Meanwhile, the Caribbean Forum for Liberation and Acceptance of Genders and Sexualities, CARIFLAGS, we are reliably informed, has expressed an interest in joining the matter as an interested party.  They have been given until September sixteenth by which they can do so.
