Anabell Kumul spends her first night in prison for the murder of her common-law

There was a murder on San Pedro on Wednesday morning, which is believed to have been the cause of a domestic dispute; a twenty-eight year old tour guide on the island was stabbed multiple times and succumbed after he hemorrhaged from an injury to the left thigh. Felix Alamilla was sleeping at a rental house on the south part of the island, some four miles from the center of the town when around six a.m., it is alleged that his common-law-wife entered the house and stabbed him with a knife taken from the kitchen. An hour later, Alamilla would be dead and thirty-six year old Mexican national, Anabell Kumul, would be detained as she attempted to leave the island. Kumul’s caution statement and other witnesses’ accounts prompted charges against her. On Thursday, Kumul was arraigned in San Pedro’s Magistrate court for the murder of her common-law-husband with whom she shared two young children. This afternoon, she was transported to the Belize Central Prison. Investigating Officer, Sergeant Lenancio Bol, spoke to News Five via phone today about her arraignment.

“In regards to the murder of Felix Alamilla, we detained his common-law wife, Anabell Kumul, she is a Mexican national and we recorded a caution statement from her and also witness statements. We forwarded all the document copies to the Director of Public Prosecution’s Office and on yesterday’s date which is the twenty-fourth of July, 2014, we got back the directives to proceed with the murder charge. As a result of that, I formally arrested and charged the accused, Anabel Kumul for the crime of murder. She was arraigned on yesterday’s date and transported to the Kolbe Foundation where she will return to court on the twenty-fourth of August 2014.”

“Right, others persons were detained nevertheless after the conclusion of recording statements and the relevant investigation, we had released all the additional persons and there is no additional charges at this moment for anyone else. We retrieved a number of knives with one in particular with what appeared to be bloodstains. That was forwarded to the lab and we are awaiting the results in regards to that.”
Kumul is to return to court on August twenty-fourth.
The face of AnabeI I see on your report is that of a scared person. Scared of what she will be facing now. Scared that she will never see her children again. But have you stopped and asked what can lead a busy mom, a hard working mom, a mom who stays at home and keeps house, what lead her to take such extreme measures? Those are the questions that should be asked. Even this story has two sides, so what made her flip, what made her loose control and end up where she is? By all accounts she is a sane person, a calm person, a loving person, so what made her commit this crime? Could it have been the fact that she was in an abusive relationship, that she received beatings constantly, that her husband Felix had not been home for days, cause he was out drinking, that he was being unfaithful to her, that he left her and her children with no money cause all of it was spent drinking. The fact that Felix was seen at many bars downtown and up the coast drinking shots and having a blast with his buddies, days before this incident is a true fact. Many bar tenders can attest to this. This story has two sides, and I hope one day I will both sides showcased by Belizean media houses…..
if anabell bacelis kumul was in such an abusive relationship, why didn’t she just leave him?? if she makes it seem like her life was a living hell with him why didn’t she just go!! … we all know she is the one that had another man in her Mexican home! every weekend she wud go to chetumal! … felix used to pay for her whole family to come here and by plane and all, they used to always love the money!!… she had everything she wanted!.she cannot say a lie that felix treated her bad because felix always used to go to my parents running because she had the bad habit of always stabbing him when she was mad!!! you didn’t check that side of the story did u???? felix used to go out drinking time to time, and he used to stay out days drinking!! so whats the problem!! she knew how he was!! we all knew how he was!! but she made the stupidest crime ever..she left her kids without a father and now the crazy ANABELL KUMUL talks alone everyday because her own conscience is killing her!!!!! y don’t u go and interview her and ask her if she really did have an abusive relationship and if MY BROTHER really did have a lover!!!!….people like you should really watch how u interpret situations!! if you didn’t live with them you shouldn’t even say anything!!! unless u were her lover and she filled up your head with lies!!! AND FYI , the face I see of ANABEL BACELIS KUMUL I see in the report is that of a crazy woman, laughing at her crime with no kind of feeling!!! and for her accomplice, her own sister, and the maid lady!!
