…And about his Legacy

Dean Barrow

And while the PM can speak openly about the corruption of some members of Cabinet, he maintains that he personally has held firmly to his integrity, and that, more than anything else, will be the legacy he would like to leave behind when his political career comes to an end.

Prime Minister Dean Barrow

“For me what is most important is if the majority of my countrymen and women will feel when I should have left office that I acted throughout my tenure on the basis of personal honesty and rectitude. That is critical. We’ve talked about some of the difficulties I’ve had with some of the members of Cabinet. We’ve talked about some of the difficulties that the government has encountered where we’ve seen things gone awry and we have not been able honestly to say that we have governed in a spotless, Simon pure, absolutely clean fashion. I’m saying that whatever has gone wrong we need to put right as a government but for myself if people feel at the end that I did my best, even if that best wasn’t good enough…but that personally I did not lose sight of my charge not to violate the public trust by any kind of dishonesty, any kind of deal making or any kind of secret manoeuvring I would be the happiest person on earth.”

The more than hour long interview aired on various media-houses over the past weekend. It was a press office production.

PM Barrow, am I the only person who realize that you have been the leader of our country Belize for almost 10 years and have refused to do an official tour of our country. Yes you hurriedly tour around election time but only on a party bases. You are quick to tour London, New York, L.A., Miami, etc and meet those Belizeans who are living in the United States who do not have to live in your communistic reign where poverty is rampant and quality of life has reduced drastically.

The only tour we get is through the radio and tv. What happen Dean, can you not lie to us face to face?
