PM Speaks About Corruption in his Administration…
If you were glued to the TV over the weekend, you probably caught at least a bit of the Prime Minister’s extended sit down with banker Steven Duncan. It clocked in at just over an hour and a quarter and the nation’s leader spoke on a matter of issues from corruption and infrastructure to the road ahead. One of the first topics touched on, if only briefly, was the matter of wrongdoing within the U.D.P. government, most notably the Elvin Penner debacle. The Prime Minister has come under attack for what has been viewed largely as a deliberate and sustained effort by government to shield Penner from justice. But notwithstanding that, the PM maintains that he acted with alacrity despite the political price.
Prime Minister Dean Barrow
“There is no way you’re ever going to have a perfect government with perfect individuals. The deal, the undertaking with the public could never have been that I will absolutely prevent any minister from going astray. That’s not possible. The deal always was that we will have a climate in which going astray will not be tolerated, will not be countenanced. We will have a climate in which the people can be confident that when ministers do make these very serious mistakes…not to put a fine line on it…when ministers engage in wrongdoing, once they are caught they will be punished.”
Steve Duncan, Interviewer
“How far are you able to go considering the slim majority that we are faced with as a government, to rein in the ministers?”
Prime Minister Dean Barrow
“I think that ultimately the people can believe me when I say that I will not allow any consideration to stop me from discharging my duty to the public. Of course one doesn’t say that lightly in the circumstances you have just described. But what it means is that in an Elvin Penner type situation I will always act as I have acted in terms of the circumstances that were disclosed to me and that the public is so well acquainted with now. In effect that cuts down our majority…he is no longer treated as a UDP in the House of Representatives…it is up to him if he wants to vote with the government or not. And there could be no question of my not having proceeded in the fashion I did simply to try and preserve what is admittedly a slim majority. If somebody else finds himself in the same circumstances as Penner did, I will act in exactly the same way even though that would further cut the majority.”
Judas as soon as you open your mouth the lies start gushing out like a river you have been corrupt all your life and you will continue to be you will go down as the worst pm this country ever had as the most impotent incompetent corrupt pm in the history of this nation that will be your legacy under you over 5000 people died needlessly how the hell do you sleep at night damm.
Image is a big element in the business world. So what image is Ali BaBa-rrow reflecting? Look at the way the man sits. Look at the dirty looking beard. Look at the colors he has chosen for his office.
You and I are accustom to the thuggish, scoundrel image. We see him everyday. But what about the people that see him through TV images? What image does this thief portray?

Perhaps there should have been a preceding interview entitled meet the interviewer Steve Duncan. Who really is Steve Duncan? What credibility does this hypocrite have?
Ok PM, you sit speaking to Steve and lie, lie, lie. The day politicians empower people to be fishermen and stop begging you will feel the wrath of a society who will no longer be blinded by your lies. You beg us to look at you differently than Said when in fact and truth the only thing different about you is your complexion and looks. Esquivel is by far a better leader than you and now I seriously think that we as a people made a huge mistake following you and tossing Philip aside. Perhaps we should have given Philip the opportunity to make a better Belize. Save your bs for your family and close friends who are dazed by your sophisticated lyrics. WE KNOW BETTER!
