DHL Courier Knocked down on Coney Drive…

A DHL courier was badly injured in a late afternoon accident today right here on Coney Drive. It happened at around four thirty, when the courier was heading back to his office near Young’s Automotive on Coney Drive. The cyclist collided into a pickup which turned onto the busy thoroughfare. An eyewitness told us that the impact was like something out of an NFL game, just worse.

“I saw the accident like ten minutes ago. The green pickup truck right there…it came to like a stop and roll and it made a left hand turn and the DHL motorcycle was following traffic on Coney Drive here…the man was just following traffic and he made a left and while he was going straight, the green pickup truck made a left hand turn and I guess she misjudged how far he was…the distance and time. The last second while she was in the middle of the intersection, the DHL guy, he couldn’t swerve out of the way really so all he did was turn the motorcycle a little bit and a full collision and the whole side of his body just got mash against the pickup truck. The man’s gone now but that was a pretty serious hit and I haven’t seen a hit like that before. I saw it right from my veranda right there. Definitely the left side, the left leg has to be completely shattered. I would say, I don’t know, but I would say that if that was me, my hop would be broken. It look like the whole side of his body was whiplashed behind the back of the cab of the pickup truck. It was a serious hit; it was a full on. The man was just following traffic, he wasn’t speeding really, he was following traffic and the lady cut in front of him and it was an accident. The man took a good hit; that’s all I can really say; that’s all I saw.”

News Five has identified the courier as Floyd Ford. He was taken by ambulance to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.
