British National Alleges Rape by Tour Guide…

A British national on vacation in Caye Caulker is alleging that she was raped by tour guide Jaime Rosado early Saturday morning. The female, whose name we cannot mention, told Caye Caulker Police that she and six friends went to a private island off Caye Caulker on Friday with a tour guide they called Captain Pops. The group partied all day and shortly after midnight decided to head to San Pedro in Captain Pops’ small skiff. They reached San Pedro at about one a.m., and four of the tourists headed onto the island, while the alleged victim and a male tourist remained on the boat with the Captain. That’s when things apparently got out of hand. The male tourist, apparently overcome by alcohol or, Police say, maybe drugs, fell unconscious. The victim states that when that happened Captain Pops decided to seize the opportunity and sexually assault her. The woman says she tried to fight him off, but he overwhelmed her and had sex with her against her will. That same Saturday the tourist made her way to Police and reported the incident, after which she was escorted to Belize City for a medical examination. A doctor certified that she was carnally known, and later that day thirty year old Rosado, also known as Captain Pops, was detained by Police pending an investigation. On Sunday, he was formally arrested and charged for the crime of rape, and on Monday he appeared in Belize City Magistrate’s Court where he was arraigned on the same charge.
