Nasley Sommerville appears before Public Services Commission
Former administrator of the Southern Regional Hospital Nasley Sommerville appeared before the Public Services Commission, finally, on August fourteenth, one week ago. Officials from the Ministry of Health have refused to provide any details, but News Five understands that three witnesses were called by Yadira Cantun, acting as a representative of the Ministry of Health. Those witnesses, two auditors and the Administrative Assistant at the Southern Regional Hospital, have given evidence against Sommerville and have been cross-examined by Sommerville’s attorney, Andrew Bennett. On September ninth, the date for which the matter has been adjourned, two additional witnesses will be called, after which Sommerville will speak on her own behalf and give her side of the story, so to speak. The former administrator is directly accused of using her authority to embezzle over three hundred and sixty-six thousand dollars from a government account, and also of forgery, in respect of that embezzlement. We note that audits of primary care providers in both Punta Gorda and Dangriga have also turned up financial irregularities, and two other administrators – Harry Sabal and Kayla Hoare, have been suspended pending further investigations. C.E.O. in the Ministry of Health, Peter Allen, is the operational head of these facilities which were audited, and the reports we have seen have maintained that there was a complete lack of adherence to financial controls and negligence on the part of the Chief Executive Officer. Allen has refused comment.
Sounds right, always blame the foreigner and a white boy at that?
Dr Allen has done more for this country than 99% of Belizeans.
Who raises more for this country through grants, donations and loans than Dr Allen.
What you expect he must be in every hospital from Corozal to Cayo to Punta Gorda at the same time to watch every administrator or every nurse 24/7 to watch who screws up.
No one ever takes the time to pat him on the back and say well done, especially our liberal press who take great pleasure in trying to discredit him. Remember this, when he leaves office, who do you think has the capability of capacity to replace him? By then it is too late and when the Health System fails and the services are really at a third world level who you going to blame when you cannot even get basic treatment.
Who do you think initiated the inquiries into the fraud and embezzlement? Read the news, it was Dr Allen. Unfortunately he has to conduct all these through the PSC, a great socialistic organization protecting the rights of civil service employees, small guess whose side they take? What a joke this country has become!
Dr Allen, big respect, don’t be swayed by the usual negative reports put out there by the press. You would be degrading yourself by actually offering them interviews!
Stay the course!!
lol, what ah ting eh. Truthbetold, fool di talk, da nuh fool d listen
