But while the Belize Rural North executive shouts for Saldivar’s reinstatement and heckles the P.U.P. and Melonie Coye, the reality is that the allegations against him are serious – career ending serious. But what are they saying about the claim that Saldivar made off with nine hundred and four thousand dollars from Coye? Well for starters, they say that they need to see the proof.

“As an executive we feel solely disrespected. How we heard about that alleged suspension was through listening to the news. And by listening to that and realizing how this all came about for the past three weeks, we are out in Belize River Valley—myself and another young lady—campaigning, doing the registration and transfer drive. And we have been very successful; we are getting positive feedbacks; the people want a change, are crying out for a change and this is the result.”

“You are aware of the allegations against Mister Saldivar, what do you think of that allegation?”

“In my opinion, I haven’t seen no proof so I cannot bring down Mister Saldivar because basically this is his own that is doing this.”

“Now the P.U.P. and I am sure all ah wi have gone against the U.D.P. because dehn neva stand up strong against Mister Penner when he did this thing with the passport. What would you have wanted the P.U.P. to do when this allegation came up with Mister Saldivar?”

“Well they should have properly investigate it and then do what they believe is best. But in this case by removing Mister Saldivar and putting a Johnny come lately will not win Belize Rural North. It will not and we will move away and we will take the supporters because all of us out here are from diehard P.U.P. families in each communities and it is disrespectful not only to us but to the majority of the people. We are wondering what will happen on election time. Will Belize Rural North be pushed in the back? People are out there starving. You go out there campaigning and you are surprised to know that people are only eating rice and nothing with it. I know because I walk the ground and I converse with people and I will not give up. That is why Belize is like this; no improvement, no moving forward because people are afraid to speak out. That’s why we are like this. They look at us like we are bushy, we are not bushy, we are Belizeans.”

The Executive maintains that it is prepared to go as far as necessary to defend Saldivar. News Five tried to reach P.U.P. Leader Francis Fonseca for comment, but were unsuccessful.
