Vanessa Champagne Paris Returns to Court

Vanessa Champagne Paris

Nineteen-year-old Perfilio Rodriguez, a transgendered woman also known as “Vanessa Champagne Paris” was before the court today.   It was the first appearance since being granted bail for allegedly assaulting Golda Orosco, the sibling of UNIBAM’s executive director Caleb Orozco.  The incident reportedly happened on June twenty-ninth at a home on Zericote Street in Belize City where Paris was said to be living with Orosco. But today, Rodriguez, a male who cross dresses as a female, was not properly attired when he appeared at court late.  He showed up sometime after ten and was wearing a pair of slippers and when he was confronted by the female security guard who refused to allow him to enter court; he became angry and confrontational and stormed into an office to see the Clerk of Court.  Rodriguez had to purchase a pair of tennis shoes and around eleven he appeared in the courtroom of Magistrate Herbert Panton where he was asked why he was late for court.  Ordinarily, tardiness for court results in a bench warrant for an arrest, but since the matter had not yet been dealt with in court, a bench warrant had not yet been issued.  Magistrate Panton then further adjourned his matter for October tenth.
