Won Hong Kim Passport Finally in Belize

So where is the long-lost won Hong Kim Belizean passport? The one which has been at Belize’s Embassy in Taiwan since September 2013? Well, the news tonight is that it is here in Belize, finally. We’d been asking for the past few weeks, since Minister of Immigration Godwin Hulse returned from an official visit to Taiwan. He didn’t bother to answer those texts, and since we managed to get hold of him today, we took the opportunity to put the question to him.

“Yes I brought it back.”

Reporter

“So it is in Belize?”

Godwin Hulse

“It is in Belize and it is in the hands of the Police.”

Reporter

“Sir could you tell us now what happens in regards to the investigation? That passport has been sought for many months.”

Godwin Hulse

“Well I understand from the Police that the D.P.P. wanted it. I take it that the D.P.P. in question is Mrs. Vidal, and I understand that she is on leave so I don’t know if the Police will hand it over to the acting D.P.P. or if they want to secure the file properly until she comes back, but once she gets it then it moves from there.”

Reporter

“Could you give us an update on the Auditor-General’s report? I know the interim report is finished. You said that you had sent back a response. What’s the situation with that?”

Godwin Hulse

“They are still continuing. They haven’t submitted any further report to us up to this point in time. So we’re still waiting.”

The D.P.P. has been on official study leave since the end of July, though she is still in the country.
