Dancehall Artists Alkaline in Belize
Despite the crime, there are a number of concerts planned for this weekend in Belize City and Cayo. This morning, Soca King, Machel Montano appeared on Open Your Eyes inviting and encouraging residents to come out to the Soca and Jazz Festival to be held at the Hour Bar grounds this Saturday. This afternoon, another mega Caribbean artist, Earlan Bartley better known as Alkaline, touched down in the Jewel and dropped by our studio to invite the public to his one-of-a-kind concerts in Cayo and Dangriga. The twenty year old dancehall artist says his music represents everything that society is afraid of and society represents everything that he is afraid of. He says he is undoubtedly one of the “Baddest” lyricists.
Alkaline, Artist
“Just expect pure madness. When I say madness, I have to do something positive. Mi like to do spontaneous things with my shows so anything that comes to my mind, I just do it live on stage. So I am pretty much going for spontaneity this weekend. And I have been hearing a lot about how excited the people of Belize are about me coming so mi very much interested in seeing what gonna happen; how they gonna react to me and the vibe. I am very much interested in meeting the people one on one also. I always tend to give myself breaks and to not go too hard and because to me when you go too hard after a while it becomes monotonous so I pace myself. I listen to what is working out there and what people are gravitating to. Unu just forward out cause I’m just gonna bring it, bring the energy of my performance. It’s my first time in Belize actually and it is gonna be a night to remember. It’s gonna be turnt up.”
Tune in on Friday morning to Open Your Eyes for a segment with Alkaline.
Is this a Mennonite gangster or a Muslim rapper? Or did he just come out of the shower?
Is this really the type of music we want to bring into the country? Have you heard the type of music alkaline brings and the lyrics he has… There was just about eight people shot and two killed by some group called GAZA AKA George street Gang which GAZA is derived from the Dancehall music portrayed by these such artists! Come on Belize!
My goodness!!!! I can see why Bishop Wright is so upset about this creature! Just the way he looks makes your skin crawl. His talk about madness and spontaneity is exactly what we should be afraid of. Whoever is responsible for bringing this gangster to Belize should be properly dealt with!
