18 Kilos of Cocaine Found In Icebox Full of Fish

Police and Customs officers made a huge bust on Wednesday night in Orange Walk. Just under forty pounds of suspected cocaine with a street value of over one point three million Belize dollars were confiscated from a Guatemalan national living in Ranchito Village, Corozal. Thirty-six year old Axel Fuentes was driving a Toyota pickup when he was stopped at a checkpoint between miles fifty-six and fifty-seven on the Phillip Goldson Highway. Inside a lower compartment of an ice cooler, police found eighteen parcels of the suspected cocaine weighing a total of eighteen point eight kilograms. Fuentes was detained and today arraigned in Orange Walk magistrate’s court for Drug Trafficking. In an interview with News Five today, Deputy O.C. of the Orange Walk Police Formation, Inspector Selvyn Tillett says that samples of the packages will be sent for testing.

“A red and black Toyota pickup with Corozal license plates driven by one Axel Fuentes, thirty-six years Guatemalan national of Ranchito Village, Corozal town approaching the checkpoint. On arrival at the checkpoint, police noticed an ice cooler with a compartment built under said ice cooler. This called the attention of the police officer who made checks and realized that the cooler had drugs in it. It was a total of eighteen packs of suspected cocaine. The drugs and the vehicle and said person were escorted to the Orange Walk police station where the suspected drug was weighed totaling eighteen point eight-nine kilograms of suspected cocaine. Fuentes was arrested and charged for drug trafficking in respect of this drug bust.”

“At this point, we cannot tell you where it came from and where it is going, but we are currently investigating into this matter.”

“As per ordeal, the drugs will be taken to…some samples taken from each package taken to the lab to be tested for cocaine.”

 

Meanwhile in the south, police intercepted a James Bus Line at Big Falls Village and a search conducted on twenty-six-year-old Ana Bol of San Pedro Columbia Village led to the discovery of a black plastic bag containing a little over two pounds of suspected cannabis. Bol has since been arrested and charged with Drug Trafficking.

    More blood shed is gonna be shed on the streets…and more everytime the cartel loses a package like this….Belizean people need to step up and call the gov’t to do something about this type of thing.
