GSU Commander Says Media to be Sued

Mark Flowers

Inspector Mark Flowers was installed as commander of the Gang Suppression Unit merely two months ago. Soon after he took on the top post for the elite unit that was created to combat organized criminal activities, Flowers came under fire for serious allegations of unnecessary brutality against residents as well as for his back and forth with the former prime minister, Said Musa. This morning, Flowers was drilled on WUB on a number of issues and at the onset, Flowers set the tone saying he was going where angels fear to tread.

Inspector Mark Flowers, Commander, GSU

“After this newscast was first aired and I contacted the attorney first because I said listen this is going on and I think it is concerted, it is concocted, but it has a spin to it that is certainly geared towards either getting ratings for these radio and television stations.”

Mose Hyde

“So you think the media is sensationalizing it?”

Inspector Mark Flowers

“Yes it is. But we have found….we have gone on to sue Channel Seven, Love FM and Channel Five. So we will be going to court with them. One of the things Mose, I don’t know if these people know me or want to get to know me, but certainly this is not the way to get to know me. I am not your average police officer that you will run over or take for a fool. This has gone on too long.”

Mose Hyde

“Is this the first time that a police officer is suing the media?”

Inspector Mark Flowers

“Yes I think it is. But certainly I hope that it is not the last time because if there is good monies in these people, we certainly got to continue doing this.”

Mose Hyde

“I don’t know if…there is a lose-lose situation there.”

Inspector Mark Flowers

“There is a no lose situation for me because they try to destroy my character…that is what they are trying to do. You see what happen, in the beginning there was a rebuttal to something that somebody said and I rebutted. That made instant enemies as far as I know. There are the medias who seemingly…I was told had instructed their people that names make news and Mark Flowers name is good news. And so I said oh yeah and this guy is confessing this to me from Channel Seven. And I said, how could your boss tell you to make news with my name? If that is so you ina some serious problem. I think these people are intent on…not out to get me, but they intend to make news even with just mere views. They take views and broadcast them as news without establishing or confirming what these views are or how hustling these views can be to them. I will not sit back and take it lightly.”

Raphael Martinez

Raphael Martinez, Police Press Officer

“Well I wish Inspector Flowers was here to clarify that statement, but what I can tell you is that whenever there is any infraction by any police officer, anybody can come and make a formal report against a police officer to the Professional Standards Branch and that indeed has happened in this situation and we normally give it at least a three weeks period for them to investigate to find out exactly if any charges will be brought against that particular officer. So again, it is in its infancy stages and I would really hope that you give it some time for the investigators to make their report.”

Reporter

“But Mister Flowers is being investigated?”

Raphael Martinez

“The case is being investigated.”

Reporter

“Which involves him?”

Raphael Martinez

“Which involves him indeed.”

How about you changing your MO?

    Think this would help?

You can never be successful at your job Flowers without the support of the public that you have sworn to serve and protect, the very people who are accusing you of abuse.

    Just do a better job!
