Hattieville Youth Alleges Police Brutality
There is a report coming out of Hattieville tonight on a case of alleged police brutality against a resident of the village. Lloyd Usher Junior was alleged taken by police officers sometime last week and beaten badly by officers attached to the Hattieville Police station. According to information gathered, Usher Junior was taken as he waited for a bus near mile seventeen on the George Price Highway; he was with a friend when they were approached by the officers who took him into custody. But it appears that instead of taking him to a police station, he was taken to Sibun River where he was beaten until he went unconscious. He was later released and allegedly told not to report the matter to anyone. But word of the brutality against Usher Junior reached his mother just moments after he was allegedly taken by the officers. Shirley Espinosa today spoke with News Five via phone about the incident.

“My cousin called me and he told me to look into the situation because he said my son and one of his friends they call Froggy, who lives in Hattieville too, were waiting on the bus to go to Belmopan because the oil company that my son used to work with called him and told him to come in and pick up his paycheck. So while he and Froggy were on the road by mile seventeen waiting on the bus, the police passed and see him and they grabbed him and they start beating him and they fling him in the vehicle and they took off with him. So when they took off with him, I thought they took him to a police station. I call Hattieville police station, Belize City police station, all the police stations and they said that my son was not there. So I called the news and I told them. Come to find out that same evening, I get another call stating from my cousin that my son was found and that he was beaten up really badly. My son said that they beat him, they took him to Sibun River, they hang him on a tree with his belt, then they beat him up. Then when they finish, they took him down, put a plastic bag over his head, duck taped his mouth, continue beating him until he passes out. Then they revive him back and continue doing the same thing. They tool their pistols and shoot up over their heads, asking him to talk, talk…tell them where Kevin Carcamo body is or they going to kill him. Then they dig a hole to bury my son in back there. Then after all they things they do to my son, Palomo the ring leader and two of the police from Hattieville police station took him, bought him a plate of food, a pack of cigarettes, gave him fourteen dollars and when dehn done, they told him shut up and don’t say nothing to nobody. And if my son needs anything, to call him Palomo and he gonna take care of him.”
