Family Condemns Elrington’s Comments
Minister Elrington’s comments, considering his decidedly nonchalant demeanour whenever Guatemala is involved, are not surprising, but they are disturbing. And while he refuses to say the killers are Guatemalan for fear of offending that country, he has offended the family of Conorquie. There is little solace for them at this point, and the words of Minister Elrington caused them to break down at the K.H.M.H. morgue this afternoon.

“The thing that really hurts us. I work with the Ministry of National Security and this might cost me my job, but I don’t care; it is my nephew. When we were watching the news right, the thing that pains a lot is that the B.D.F. was saying that it was the xateros that shot Danny and then for the Minister of Foreign Affairs to come on the television and say that he got his information that it was only two Hispanic men. I mean everybody knows that lot of things happen at the back there and it doesn’t come on the news. This is not the first time they have a shootout. They have many more just that it don’t come on the news. That is my nephew and he is like my son and I love him so much. What I had to said just now might cost me my job, but I don’t care. I love him and he is gone. I love my sister and I try to be strong for her, but I just got to let it out.”
