Was GSU Boss Mark Flowers Involved

According to McCoy after Flowers hit him a regular Police Officer arrived on thescene and that’s when things immediately quieted down. That officer allegedly verified his claim that he was inside the club when the accident occurred. From there, he was taken to the Queen Street Police Station.

“When I gone over to the Queen Street Police Station, I must say that the officers there were very courteous. They immediately told the GSU, who brought me in, that they will not accept me in that condition and that they need to take me over to the hospital to fill out a medico form, a police medico form. The GSU officer refused and said they gwen on an operation out district right now so they can’t do that. So they left me at the station, the inspector on duty ask two officers to take me over, which they did. They never rough me up; they neva treat me no kinda way bad.”

“They classified it as harm. At the time when I went into the hospital, I was not aware that my back had been injured. I mean yo mi di take lick from all corners, yow ah feel the more serious one dehn. Dah neva until the following day when I lay down pan mi bed, I realize that…because all this while I neva sleep; I neva gone sleep until I think almost midnight Saturday night. I couldn’t even reason with…that this reality set in that this dah weh happen to me.”

“Tell me wah lee bit about the injuries that you sustained?”

“Well like I said, I get wah cut underneath yah. Up to yesterday, di whole ah yah mi still swell up. Probably yah yow ah could see it still swell. I have some bruises over yah. Mi chest, whole ah yah mi swell-up up to yesterday. It is not as bad, but it hurt. I can’t sleep dah night because I have these injuries. I also have wah injury on mi back and weh I laid pan mi back, that hurt.  I plan to take legal action; I gwen go see Ombudsman this afternoon. I already gone and see the Professional Standard Bureau yesterday. I gwen go see Ombudsman this afternoon, lawyer this evening. Again I would wish that some way we coulda sue Mister Mark Flowers individually so that he could feel it ina his pocket and noh the taxpayers of Belize because when the government go and pay fi the action of these men—these crazy actions—dehn guys feel like oh you know what, I noh di worry about that. We could do it again because the government just wah pay that off. But if we could make them take the lick personally, then that wah make dehn start to think about what they deh do.”

We note that where this incident is concerned, the CPR Unit of the Police has gone comatose. Actually whenever the GSU is concerned, even senior officers prefer to keep distant and silent.
