Tourists Release Shocking Video Following Danny Conorquie’s Murder
The tragic execution of Danny Conorquie at the Caracol Mayan Site has made headlines since last Thursday. Tonight, there is a shocking new edited video which has gone viral since it was released today on the internet. It was shot by tourists who were recording their visit to Caracol on the fateful day, September twenty-fifth, 2014. The Special Constable was shot in the back by men who came from the bushes and fled across the border to the village of San Valentin, Guatemala. Conorquie was at his post, providing security for tourists at the site. The Prime Minister has said that he believes Guatemalans killed Conorquie, but he has fallen short of confirming who the perpetrators are. We have the video, but warn that some of the images are disturbing. It starts with the terrible sound of the gunshots which took Danny Conorquie’s life and goes on to say that the murder was triggered by revenge for horse confiscated the previous day from Guatemalan encroachers.
{Compelling video of moments following the execution of Danny Conorquie…}
That video is stirring up even more anger at the murder of Conorquie.
Growing up on Church Street in Belize City, I have seen lots of violence, especially between the block of George St and West Street, known back then as Harlem Square. One early morning, an individual was viciously hacked to death. As he lay dying, housewives gathered around, and everybody had a unique version, story telling and motive for the vicious crime. I called it “the old hags of Harlem Square.”
The old hags of Caracol are rising. Dumb bell Matura will march today, tourist videos are floating in cyberspace, the Police is confused. Chaos Chaos.
So where is Barrow and Sedi? Why are they not aggressively pursuing this matter? Cowards. We Belizeans are being led by cowards………. especially Sedi.
We Belizeans need to stop fooling ourselves and to stop those who are trying to fool us. Those who are doing political posturing need to stop playing these games with people. In my 75 five years of living in this world, from time to time we hear individuals claiming that their actions are not political in nature, however it is clear that some of these individuals are playing politics. People are subtly playing politics with the murder of this young man, Constable Conorque by Guatemalans. Clearly, we should expect and demand more from our government in terms of what happened in the killing of this young man by Guatemalans.
In short, the lease we could do is demand the resignation of our Foreign Minister since we are in disagreement with some of his statements and the way he’s handling this very complicated situation. Furthermore, we should demand that the government provide more security in towns such as Benque Viejo and El Cayo del Carmen. Instead of having the GSU brutalizing our citizens we should have a rapid response unit place in these nearby towns. This unit should be made up of some very capable BDF and special policeman aka as border patrol. Perhaps, this would send a message to the Guatemalans that we are serious about our borders with their country. In my humble opinion we are acting like a bunch of cowards in demonstrating at the border and behaving in a confused state of mind. We should be demonstrating against our current government demanding more from them in terms of defending our native land. The GOB are the ones who are acting like cowards in their approach to this diplomatic situation.
They need to take a firm stand in voicing their demands to the Guatemalan government and people. Wake up Belizeans, and stop these political minded individuals from treating us like cunu munu. Our government should be aggressively pursuing this matter with the Guatemalan: government. Let us stop fooling ourselves with those who are politically posturing, seeking name and fame constantly playing political games.
