Man Remanded for Carnal Knowledge

A teenager who is only thirteen years and nine months of age is claiming that a young man she is acquainted with had sexual intercourse with her against her will. Police have detained twenty-two year old Enrique Poot Junior and this morning he was taken to court to face a single criminal charge of one count of unlawful sexual intercourse, which is known as carnal knowledge.  Pook Junior appeared before the Chief Magistrate, Anne Marie Smith; no bail could be granted to him and he was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until his next court date set for November twenty-sixth.  The alleged victim reported to the police that the incident took place on September twenty- seventh.
