Was GSU Boss Involved in Human Smuggling Attempt?

Early this morning the GSU called the media to a press briefing at Raccoon Street, hosted by no other than Inspector Mark Flowers. As usual, he had quite a lot to say, and we’ll share that with you. But first to another allegation against Flowers! This one was made back in 2009, by Immigration officers at the Western border. News Five has received documents which include statements from Immigration Officers who claim that in May of 2009, Flowers tried to bring three Salvadoran nationals across the border without checking in. It is alleged that he picked up Elba Lizeth Mendoza Castaneda, Henry Antonio Mendoza Castaneda and Norma Leticia Corado in Champon, and then drove them to the border point. Alert Immigration officials had been monitoring the trio and stopped the vehicle. The Salvadorans were detained and Flowers was cautioned, and an investigation was opened into the matter. Statements were provided by the Customs officers, one of whom entitled his statement, quote – ‘smuggling of Salvadoran nationals.’ We’ve been unable to get further information on the incident, so when we got a chance this morning, we took advantage and asked Flowers point-blank.

“There is no such thing and that ascertain my friend how you come about saying you have documentation, there never was such case. I know of a case where during an operation that I was involved in and I can’t readily give all the details because of the sensitivity of the case. But I don’t know about any Salvadoran being smuggled there is no such thing, there is no truth to that. There was a certain time where I had to bring certain people into the country who are now in prison and it is that time I know when there as some concerns. That was a legitimate police business. I will not go further than that but I will say that whatever your assertions are, are untrue.”
