CIB Investigating Allegations, Says C.E.O. Lovell
So we’re a little confused. Is the investigation into the Cervantes and Sonia Abac murders, opened months ago, now closed? If so then when was it concluded and why wasn’t anybody told until Thursday? And why did the announcement that it was closed come after the release of new evidence which must have at least warranted some scrutiny? And why haven’t the three men in custody been charged for the Abac murder? There are certainly now more questions than answers, and we couldn’t get a credible response from Police sources, so we decided to check in with C.E.O. in the Ministry of National Security, retired Colonel George Lovell. He told News Five that he spoke to Commissioner of Police Allen Whylie just today, and he has been assured that the CIB is currently looking closely into the new allegations, all allegations, being made.
Ret. Col. George Lovell, C.E.O., Ministry of National Security
“I can’t say more beyond that because there are a number of things that they certainly need to establish. They need to establish the authenticity of the information and the allegation before they can really come up with any sort of answer as to what is happening.”
Mike Rudon
“In a case like this, for example the police issued a release yesterday saying that the investigation is closed. And that they know that the person Manuel Castillo is the only other person who is responsible for the murders of two persons. Will this then open up that closed investigation?”
Ret. Col. George Lovell
“Well certainly, if there is information being brought to the forefront. I don’t see how they can conclusively say that they are not going to open up an investigation into whatever new information is being brought to light. If there is new information surely, it has an obligation to look at those and not just to look at them but to see if there is any truth to the information that appears.”
Mike Rudon
“Sir in an allegation like this which is like I said, it is the first time I have ever heard anything like this…the nature of what we are hearing. Would the ministry then take a more hands on approach to I don’t know if the word is to oversee or to ensure that the investigation is carried out?”
Ret. Col. George Lovell
“No, no, no, no, no. No, the ministry cannot. The law is clear mike. It is the commissioner of police and like we’ve had in many other investigations. When you start to have ministries and ministers getting involved with these things, it can go all sort of ways and we don’t want that to happen. So we will leave the commissioner up to his work.”
The breath and scope of the corruption of this gov is limitless and they have been putting hits on a lot of people that have been murdered in the city then blamed on gang violence instead of gov violence.
Vega the murderer including judas barrow
The commissioner will follow ministerial orders! In Belize the Judiciary branch of gov’t is not independent. Just follow what will transpire in the days ahead!!
Hello di ministas obviously done involve inna all kinds of bad things. Somebody need fi protect the police now cause them corrupt politrickcians goin overrun dis country.
“No, no, no, no, no. No, the ministry cannot.
Same for the Penner investigation.
Toothless lap dogs of Ali. Now bark and roll over
If they kidnapped Mr. Cervantes because they wanted to beg for money from the family, they wouldn’t have killed him so quickly. It would seem that the MOTIVE was to kill him from the start, because that is what CONTRACT killing is. Please Mr. Police man, CIB, the three men currently in prison ALL KNOWS the real MOTIVE. They also know who was paying for the job to be done, and how much. You need to talk to them again and get the motive out of them, cause closing the case the way you did, NO THE JELL WITH THE BELIZEAN PEOPLE. In the United States 30 years later you can still be charged for the crime if new evidence come to light. Lastly, they all thought that they had killed Castillo, so the easy thing for them to walk free was to blame it on the dead. Only the gullible could believe them now!
the investigation is closed because it convenes them (the police) who are also implicated in this murder case. now the cartels are sure that belizean authorities are taking bribes
