Motorist Perishes in Road Traffic Accident in Orange Walk District
There were two traffic accidents over the weekend, both of them in the Orange Walk district, and both of them resulting in fatalities. The first occurred on Friday at around ten p.m. on the Trinidad – August Pine Ridge. One man, twenty-four year Alonzo Vasquez, lost control of his vehicle while driving home to Trinidad. Police believe that he suffered a blowout which caused the vehicle to flip several times.

“Police received information of a fatal traffic accident on the Trinidad/August Pine Ridge Road, Orange Walk District. On arrival at the scene and approaching the bridge on said road, police saw a black single cab Mazda pickup with Orange Walk license plate, which was being driven at the time by one Alonzo Vasquez, twenty-four years of Trinidad Village. Information reveals that Mister Vasquez was travelling from August Pine Ridge towards Trinidad Village and upon reaching the bridge, he lost control and the said vehicle overturned several times. He was flung out of the vehicle and received head and body injuries and at about twelve-thirty a.m. he was pronounced dead at the Northern Regional Hospital.”
12:30 am? High speeds? Booze? Hopefully one of these days we’ll reach where blood alcohol tests have to be standard procedure, and the public disclosure in the news of those findings on EACH case! then the word can be getting out regularly and send the message to public to start to bring change in these areas.
