Session Fosters Enhanced Education Quality
The objective of the seminar, says Fitz, is to foster an understanding of specific academic needs through the various unions representing teachers.
Thecla Fitz, Laureate Education Inc.
“The primary focus is to understand teachers. Where are they now? Where do they want to go? What do they need to be professional? How can they work with the education stakeholders? How do they make an impact in schools? How do they see themselves understanding children in the twenty-first century? How do they apply themselves to teach children who are internet savvy, who are technology advanced? So this is mainly the focus of what it is. Where are they now and where do they want to go. So really, the Caribbean Union of Teachers will come together for these education conferences annually to ensure that they address several needs. It’s twofold, it’s really professional needs and even the technical needs. So it’s not just about what can the government do for the teachers but what can the teachers do to make a difference within the countries that they live and work.”
The session continues on Tuesday at the Biltmore.
