“Daughters of Virtue” Revival Planned for Friday
Although there are systems in place to empower women, for Wright, some disenfranchised women have slipped through the cracks. Friday’s women conference and revival entitled “Daughters of Virtue” will be held at the Nazarene Church on Princess Margaret Drive and according to Wright, everyone is welcome, regardless of their religion.
Therese Wright, Building the Sisterhood of Christ Mission
“Four of us are here from Kentucky on this mission; we are all from different denomination. We don’t care about that because at the end of the day, we are all one in Christ, we’re all sisters and we are our sister’s keepers. So it is not about religion. It is about the woman herself and that is our message that we are bringing. And that is our thing and that is what we told the girls today and the women of BML today, you know what, if you know that this coworker, if you know your neighbor needs a loaf of bread and you have two loaves of bread, share. God will bless you double-fold for what you did. Just share and trust in God. I gave my personal testimony about my family. There were families that helped my family; we wore secondhand clothes, we wore secondhand shoes, we had three-dollar market bags; people helped us along the way and now this is my time to turn around because God is blessing me and has helped me to help my fellow women. It doesn’t matter just because you are a laborer, I don’t care. If you are laborer, you are an attorney, just help another sister. That’s what it is about. And we do need to get rid of that crab mentality; it has no place in the kingdom of God. We do have an awesome team here in Belize which my blood sisters are a part of and we also have two other sisters in Christ. And we saw what happened today that this is needed and so we will be working on that. We are also working on our next mission trip that will not include only women but also men because the men want to come and be a part of this.”
The group intends to assist persons with educational opportunities in the U.S.
