Chairman August Refutes Allegations

The People’s United Party says it is still awaiting confirmation on the whereabouts of U.D.P. Chairman Alberto August who they claim was seen inside the elections office in Cayo North on Saturday.  It is a bold claim, one in which August is being accused of political interference in the process leading up to Monday’s bye-elections.  This afternoon, August refuted those allegations challenging the opposition to produce any evidence that he was indeed in the vicinity of the building over the weekend.  According to August, he was busy campaigning in Bullet Tree at the purported time he was seen at the office.

“On Saturday I spent all day in Bullet Tree campaigning.  Whosoever has that recording let them bring it forward.”

“Speak to us on these allegations; I know you’ve heard of it, you mentioned it during the morning show earlier.  What is being said with regards to either your involvement in what is taking place or what have you?”

Alberto August

“Well the information reaching me was that the Leader of the Opposition would have called a press conference at two o’clock today to present information that I was at the registration office in Cayo North on Saturday.  I came on Wave Radio this morning to challenge him to make that allegation.  You notice that he was not present at their press conference because nothing can be farther from the truth.  But the information reaching me now is that Henry Charles might have made that allegation.  I am going to request a recording, I am going to request a copy of that recording and if Henry Charles made that allegation about me being present in any registration office on Saturday he is going to have a lawsuit coming his way.”

“With regards to the upcoming elections and the campaign that the United Democratic Party has embarked upon with its candidate Mr. Omar Figueroa, can you give us an update on how that has been going?”

Alberto August

“It is going exceptionally well.  Omar is a viable candidate, the people of Cayo North are blessed because from the fifth of March they are going to have a real champion working for their cause in Omar Figueroa.”

“What has it been like being on the ground, I know you mentioned being in Bullet Tree Falls over the weekend as well.  In terms of being on the ground and dealing with these people getting them ready for Monday’s elections, what has that been like?”

Alberto August

“The U.D.P. supporters in Cayo North are ready to go to the polls.  They are telling us that they are going to the polls early.  The response that we have been getting is magnificent, it’s heartwarming and it gives you that motivation to get out there and to campaign for your candidate.”
