Is Carla Barnett the New U.D.P. Standard Bearer for Freetown?

The prime minister has called a press briefing at U.D.P. headquarters Wednesday morning. Well, the invitation has been causing a stir since it was circulated. Sources tell News Five tonight that the U.D.P. will announce a candidate for the Freetown division which has been left vacant by Lee Mark Chang. According to our sources the new U.D.P. candidate has extensive experience in financing and is economist, Carla Barnett, who is currently the chair of the Belize Tourism Board. Barnett is also former financial secretary under the P.U.P. administration. If confirmed, Barnett will face the P.U.P. leader, Francis Fonseca.
With due respect, the proposed UDP candidate , although educated and experienced in local politics, does not have the innovative skills to be a leader in anything but to be a recipient of wages for a day’s work. She would make a half-decent civil servant. That is not to say the present crop of politicians is any better.
Apparently, this is a move on the PM’s part to show some respect for educated and intelligent women. However, on the contrary Carla Barnett has never displayed any leadership skills amongst the populace of Belize.
With all respect due Carla Barnett, she is no more than an educated well trained puppet with absolutely no leadership skills, politically or otherwise. In short a very good public servant with no people skill or connection to the Belizean populace.
Very sadly so, this PM appears to think he can buy the constituents with the candidacy of Carla Barnett for the free-town division with petro Caribe $$.
