Bail Granted for Men Busted With Heroin
Justice Troadio Gonzalez also presided at a bail hearing this morning. After eight days on remand at the Belize Central Prison for a bust of forty pounds of heroin, four men were granted Supreme Court bail in the sum of fifty thousand dollars. The street value of the heroin is placed at ten million dollars and is the biggest local bust for heroin. The men are thirty-two year old Jose Lara, of San Pedro, thirty year old Lennon Tillett, a B.E.L. contractor of Belize City residing in Corozal Town, forty-two year old Gerardo Allen, a tour guide of Caye Caulker and thirty-five year old Heirder Martin Perez, the administrative assistant for Hol Chan Marine Reserve who is originally from Corozal Town. All four were represented by attorney, Arthur Saldivar. Saldivar had difficulties in getting the bail application to be heard jointly for the four accused and the court frowned on the application because it was being requested before ten working days since the men were arrested.
Judge Gonzalez also strenuously objected to the omission in the affidavits for what the men had been charged. That out of the way, the hearing took place and arguments were made by the office of the D.P.P. and the attorney. By ten-thirty, the four had been granted bail with conditions that they are to present themselves to the police every Friday, surrender travel documents and not interfere with the witnesses. By early afternoon, they met bail and were free to go. On January fourteenth, 2015, the four were arraigned in the Orange Walk Magistrates Court for Drug Trafficking of Heroin. Police say Perez was carrying his loaded licensed pistol when police found fifteen parcels of heroin in the back seat of their car which was parked in front of a restaurant at the entrance of Corozal Town.
This has got to be the most corrupt and dumb judge in the world is this judge on drugs or what damm.
Its a darn shame to read articles like this one. I have never heard any country giving bail to criminals, that is what they are, any person that decides to be involve in the drug industry is a murder. How many people are getting addicted to drugs, kids, mothers, fathers, uncle, aunts etc… and how many are killing their self on this addiction. How many people are being hurt by this drug and yet you read articles about these criminals getting bail and walking on the streets as nothing happen. Its a shame that our country has the reputation of being on the 10 countries that help the drug industry. This is a small country that we know everybody and everyones life, there is not much to do for our youths and also we know who are the ones involve in this kind of drug activity. Out of the four criminals that are on bail, there is one person that people in Corozal know very well that is known for being in this kind of activities (Lennon Tillett ). He still works for the Moreno family who owns the huge supermarket on college road. The other three men, I know there are people out there that know something about these humble poor fishermen. There is nothing to be proud of when people do this kind of activity in a country that politcs has damage the reputation of a beautiful destination for vacation. Do you think tourists would like to visit a country that helps criminals selling drugs on the street? There are alot of cities in United States, Mexico, Central America, Cananda etc… that are trying to fight drugs on the streets. What we need to keep these criminals out from our society is not corrupted lawyers or law enforcement, we need a hotline where we can give rewards to people who know these kind of criminals doing their activities, we need a better law system to the one we have, we need to let our country hire agents that will find these kind of people put them and who ever is involve in this kind of activity on prison (life sentence). Stop this system that offers bail to criminals.
That is so wrong, that is pounds of heroin valued at millions of dollars so why are they getting bailed? Not Fair, charging the youths for trafficking and denying bail for 70 grams of cannabis I hope the cartel hold these soldiers accountable and the snitches should get stiches….
If you thief 7 Coke bottle you get 5 years in prison but if you get caught with 40 pounds of Heroin you can walk and merely instructed not to bother the witnesses and basically to behave like a model citizen until trial!
These guys were caught with enough Heroin to get everyone in the country of Belize high for christ sake! And we send them home and tell them to behave like good little boys until their trial? How stupid can we be? I am sure someone in very high places handed down some instructions to who ever.
Here is how this will all play out: they will disappear or the drugs will disappear, someone in high places will get buttered up and everyone goes home free. If these guys had the bolas to have 40 lbs of Heroin on their back seat while the sat for lunch in broad daylight this speaks volumes.
The greatest performance in the jewel, money and justice in Belize/the world?
Is because the government in Belize are involve in this drug trafficking
