Gabourel Fined for Grievous Harm
Dennis Gabourel, the businessman who was accused back in 2003 of raping a nurse then beating her up after he pursued her to her home, was today sentenced by Justice Troadio John Gonzalez. In mitigation, his attorney Simeon Sampson pointed out that the judge has the discretion to refrain from imposing jail time and that Gabourel is a man of good character. Judge Gonzalez imposed a fine of ten thousand dollars which is to be paid by March thirty-first, 2015 or in default three years imprisonment. Gabourel was also ordered to three thousand dollars in compensation to the victim by the end of June. At the end of his trial for rape and grievous harm, a jury of nine, found him not guilty of rape but guilty of grievous harm. The nurse who brought the charges against Gabourel claimed that he had raped her in his van in September 2003, when she asked for a ride and instead of taking her home he took her to the area of municipal Airport where she was raped and on the following she was attacked at her house. The charges brought against him are only the tip of the iceberg because Gabourel’s record shows he has been charged with fifty one fifty one offenses securing more than ten convictions stemming back from in 1997 up until 2014. The long list includes anything from use of indecent words to assaulting a police officer, disorderly conduct, damage to property, aggravated assault of an indecent nature and harm. He still has other matters pending before the court.
Really? Just imagine he is still out of prison.
If he steals some Coke bottles I am sure he would get 7 years in prison!
