Man Charged for Rape in Dangriga

Heading south…There is very unsettling news to report out of Dangriga. Twenty-two year old Robert Taylor of Monument Site in Dangriga was arrested and charged for the crimes of rape and aggravated assault, after he sodomized a twenty-five year old woman in that southern municipality. Taylor was also charged with abduction, theft of motor vehicle and robbery. Dangriga Police are now looking for Shane Bennett in connection with this incident.  On Tuesday, the woman reported to police that around eight on Sunday night, she was in a vehicle being driven by her male friend when they were heading to the Benguche Area.

He made a turn onto an unknown street and the woman said that she heard a loud sound of a rock hitting underneath the vehicle. The driver stopped to make checks when armed masked men approached the vehicle. The men, one of dark complexion armed with a knife and the other of a fair complexion carrying a hand gun, ordered the driver back into the vehicle and demanded that he drive near the cemetery. When they arrived in the vicinity of the Putt Putt Bar area, the woman and the driver were both tied up and the two men had anal sexual intercourse with the woman against her will. Her male friend managed to escape. A medical examination has certified that the woman was anally penetrated.
