Godswell Flores Acquitted of Unlawfully Possessing Antiquities
Belize City resident Godswell Flores was today acquitted of Failure to Produce a License for Possession of Antiquities. Magistrate Dale Cayetano dismissed the charge against Flores because the prosecution failed to prove the case against the accused beyond a reasonable doubt. Several witnesses were called to the stand including two law enforcement officers and archaeologist Oscar Ramos from the Institute of Archaeology. None of the witnesses were able to say that they had asked Flores to produce a license. And his attorney also pointed out to the court that Ramos wasn’t able to say if Flores was given or denied a license to possess antiquities. Cayetano upheld a no case submission, because during the trial the prosecution was unable to prove that Flores had a license. In January of last year the food vendor from a Church Street Address in Belize City was discovered with a broken jade mask and jade figurine in his possession.
GOB and all of its useless and inept ministries and departments just can’t get anything right. All of them are a waste of time and money . . . our money! You catch a crook in possession of whatever, drugs, guns, antiquities, stolen property, you name it and GOB just can’t seem to get the prosecution right. They lose every time unless the fool is ignorant enough to plead guilty.
