Was Chebat’s Endorsement an Issue for PUP Western Caucus?
As we told you, Chebat was endorsed last week amid some contention from the executive of the People’s United Party. There are senior politicians who don’t believe a truly democratic party should be endorsing candidates as opposed to duking it out at conventions. Still, it was done, and Chebat told News Five that he will gain the confidence of his colleagues in the Western Caucus and in the party.
Michel Chebat, P.U.P. Standard Bearer, Cayo North
“Endorsements are not new. I am not the first candidate to be endorsed. I think that any concerns that are out there from fellow standard bearers and so forth, I think the challenge for me is to allay those fears, the challenge for me is to work to gain their confidence as a fellow standard bearer, and that is what I’m doing and that is what I intend to keep doing. I am new to the game and I strongly believe that it is my duty and my obligation to gain the confidence of the fellow standard bearers out there. I want you to know this…that the Western Caucus had actually voted nine to two in support of my candidacy for the Cayo North Division.”

“And in closing…I’ve asked you about your reception on the ground. Could I ask your reception from your fellow standard bearers?”
Michel Chebat
“I’ll be honest with you. Doctor Lesbia Guerra has been an excellent supporter, and so has landy Habet. I have had discussions with Senator Andrews and he is also supporting my candidacy. Mr. Silva…I am working, trying to gain his confidence, trying to gain his camaraderie and I am hoping that is going to come in shortly.”
Chebat confirmed to News Five that he’s had no communication with Richard Harrison since entering the division. We tried repeatedly to reach Harrison after Chebat’s endorsement, but were unsuccessful.
This chebat look like wah good candidate fi di people. Cayo should elect him cause he will represent them very well. Him smart and not disgusting like them other politrickcians out there.
His reasoning seems low to me.
