GSU Cracks Down on Drugs

Mark Flowers

The gang suppression unit is currently conducting countrywide operations including in the west and the Old Capital. The success of the drug bust in Corozal was followed by the discovery of twenty-seven pounds of marijuana in Belize City.

Via Phone: Insp. Mark Flowers, Commander, GSU

“There were operations conducted in other parts of the country and are still being conducted in other parts of the country. Yesterday, there were simultaneous operations as is being done today. In Belize City yesterday, our team operating out there found a total of twenty-eight pounds or so of marijuana—different grades and at different locations. Up until midday, they discovered six pounds and then they found in the evening…all to a total of twenty-eight or so pounds of marijuana yesterday in the afternoon. Yes we are having small successes, but they are successes nonetheless and it is in keeping with what our chart it. We want to interrupt the supply until we reduce the availability of drugs in the streets and by so doing to reduce the violence in the streets.”
