Nestor Mendez Bids for Post of O.A.S. Deputy Secretary General
This Wednesday, at the Organization of American States in Washington, Ambassador Nestor Mendez will be vying for election to the position of Deputy Secretary General of the O.A.S. Guyana is also presenting a candidate for the post so the election is being closely watched. Mendez has been campaigning for some time and in many quarters it is believed that he has the numbers on his side to become the first Belizean to reach that high level in the regional body. A number of Belizean diplomats are in Washington for the elections and so are the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Wilfred Sedi Elrington, and C.E.O., Lawrence Sylvestre. This station will be covering the elections from Washington and we will have a live report as it unfolds which can well turn out to become a achievement for Belize’s foreign policy.
