Manu McCauley Steps Up to Defend His Son’s Honor

Manu McCauley

But, not so fast says David Manu McCauley. The veteran footballer and father of Deon McCauley is refuting some of the claims being made by the F.F.B. He says his son has been disrespected and given how much he has contributed to the team, he was overlooked completely. He said Deon was in country in January but he never had an official conversation with the F.F.B.  So, will Deon join the team for the next matches? Here’s what he had to say.

“If they do the right thing, Deon would have been here.”

“How much of this do you think has to do with the fall out that he had with John Saldivar who is now with the national team?”

David Manu McCauley

“Well, it had a lot. It had a lot and the effect is showing. He is one of the top players in the country and not an ordinary player. How could you treat a top player from your country this way?”

Andrea Polanco

“You don’t think that some of the responsibility is on Deon’s part, to reach out to the F.F.B.?”

David Manu McCauley

“I don’t think so. I believe if you are an international player, the F.F.B. should have made some kind of effort to make that connection.”

Andrea Polanco

“They are saying they have Facebook evidence, showing communication, checking up on him?”

David Manu McCauley

“That’s not so. Deon made that video to tell his position and they are all sitting there telling lies. How can you treat a top player like this? I was a top player and I share these same sentiments.”

Andrea Polanco

“As a footballer yourself, they are saying that Deon hasn’t been playing for a while and isn’t top shape/form. Don’t you think it is fair that they use players who have been active?”

David Manu McCauley

“Well, if you undergo surgery for a sports injury you need time to recover; four to six weeks. After that, Deon is training and ninety to ninety five percent in condition.”

Andrea Polanco

“Now that you heard them saying, well you know, we are open to Deon coming back. Do you think this is something he is going to consider and play with the team in future games?”

David Manu McCauley

“Yeah. Well, Deon is always welcome and always has that feeling to play for this country. He always had that passion.”

Andrea Polanco

“Do you think he will come back this time?”

David Manu McCauley

“Well, I will have to talk to him. Deon just feels a way about the F.F.B. and how they are treating him. They are saying that Deon’s name is on the list, but on their Facebook name, Deon’ name is not on the list.”

McCauley said that the only two names of international players on the F.F.B.’s published list of players on their social media page were Elroy Smith and Shane Moody.
