UNICOMER Donates to the Kidney Association
UNICOMER Courts Belize Limited handed over a cheque to the Kidney Association of Belize. Courts and the Association hope that the monies will provide much needed Kidney treatment for patients with renal failure. News Five was at the handing over today.
Kovenka Rodriguez, Senior Marketing Officer, Courts Belize
“Courts recognizes that Belizeans suffer from renal failure and we recognize also that many Belizeans cannot afford dialysis. So, through this medium which is our CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) Big Hearts program, we decided to donate eighteen thousand dollars to the Kidney Association of Belize.”
Ruby Nicholas, President, Kidney Association of Belize
“It’s so heartwarming that Unicomer, Courts Belize, has ventured in deciding to donate eighteen thousand dollars and this is specifically for Kidney patients who will be receiving dialysis treatment. The eighteen thousand dollars will go a long way. We are targeting six Kidney patients who will be receiving three dialysis treatments for the week. We are also looking at the funds to see how much patients we will be able to assist.”
Andrea Polanco
“Have you shared this news with the patients already?”
Ruby Nicholas
“Not as yet. It will be one of those times where we will sit as a board and select the patients and we will be informing them. The patients that are selected will get three dialysis.”
Andrea Polanco
“How important is it that we see corporations or organizations that give back to associations like the Kidney Association of Belize?”
Ruby Nicholas
“It goes a long way. Kidney Disease is very costly and we have had patients who have passed away from the mere fact of not having funding to do dialysis treatment. So this comes as a very important milestone for us that we have Unicomer as an organization that is contributing to the Kidney Association of Belize.”
With all the money they rob from the poor Belizean people, that’s the least they can do
