Cop Kills Himself With Girlfriend’s Gun

The police department is tonight mourning the death of one of its officers. Just before seven p.m. on Thursday, Police Constable Shannon Ramirez, who is attached to the Belama Police Precinct, reportedly shot himself in the head inside his room at his Aloe Vera Street house in Belize City. The body of the twenty-eight year old was discovered lying face down in a pool of blood. Investigations have revealed that Ramirez arrived home and went to his room; shortly after a gunshot was heard. He had reportedly placed to his head a Taurus brand nine-millimeter pistol licensed to his common-law-wife, who is also a member of the Gang Suppression Unit and pulled the trigger. Six live rounds and one expended shell were retrieved from beside his body. While our policy is not to report on suicides, we do so tonight because it involves a police officer. Today, News Five was able to get a comment from Deputy Commander of the Eastern Division, Senior Superintendent Edward Broaster.

“Yes, we had a suicide by one of our cops last night. That matter is being investigated to find out the motive as to why he took his life. It is a sad situation; our hearts poured out to his family and friends of that officer. I am sure that he will be greatly missed by his colleagues and family. As soon as we get to the bottom as to why he did that, there will be a press release as to the motive. His name is Shannon Ramirez and he has been working with the Belama police for quite a time right now.”
In this instance, the police are calling the incident a case of sudden death.

This is a very sad and unfortunate situation, however, sometimes people do not intend to kill self, sometimes it is only act of playing silly dangerous games that cannot be reversed once the trigger is pulled?
Based on my professional practice wisdom, cannabis has absolutely no ability to slow down suicides. On the contrary it contributes to suicidal ideation in some individuals. Some after getting high plays silly dangerous games as described in the above article. Perhaps, trying to prove to girlfriend that he is capable of committing this act of no return after the trigger is pulled.. Who knows what really happened?
