When Will Amended Special Agreement Receive Congressional Nod in Guatemala?
But even though the amendment was signed on Monday, the document will need to get approval from the Guatemalan Congress, unlike Belize. So what is the possibility of it getting the congressional nod anytime soon?
Carlos Raul Morales, Foreign Minister, Guatemala
“You know it is difficult. With Congress it is difficult to say that it will be approved in two, one months. We will do our best. I cannot tell you it will be approved in a month, but we will do our best. The international community is supporting us a lot. Tomorrow we invite many congressmen to assist to this act and I really hope so that Congress can approve it probably in the next two, three months. I hope so.”
