Deputy Leader Julius Espat, who also shared the head table with Fonseca, frankly says that the only means of repealing the newly passed law is to vote the present government out of office.

“What the claim has done in reality though, it has forced transparency to a certain extent.  It has forced people to be able to express themselves.  You have the independent parties now giving their point of view based on the claim that brought the awareness.  You have now B.N.T.U. bringing out their fliers as to why is it that they are objecting to this thing.  You have the National [Trade Union Congress of Belize], the N.T.U.C.B., you have the [Belize] Chamber of Commerce and Industry.  You have every single Belizean that has, that might still have a little bit of money to put some credit on their phones to call in on the radio station and I insist, George Price started the first constructive and peaceful revolution.  The Belizean people now need to start the second one.  We have to bring back democracy to this country; we cannot sit down and just let it be taken away from us. Let’s not fool ourselves; the only way to have these amendments done is to change this government.  So we will do whatever it takes right now to be able to enlighten the Belizean people, inform the Belizean people but the reality is there is no way this government will change their ways and so the Belizean people need to realize that the only thing that can be done is to change them and I stand by that.”
