Fonseca Says P.U.P. Poised for Victory in General Elections

Francis Fonseca

And after that bye-election is over on July eight, the focus is the road to General Elections. While speculations are that it may be as early as the end of this year or  towards the start of next year, the P.U.P. says they have been putting the work in the places that it is going to count most- that is, on the ground with the electorate. Here’s what Francis Fonseca, Leader of the Opposition said this morning.

Francis Fonseca, Leader of Opposition

“It’s constituency by constituency, William. There is no substitute for that. The truth is, winning elections, all the hoopla and press conferences and all of these things are important parts of our work because we have to get the message out and engage with the Belizean people in every way we can. The truth is, politics is about the nuts and bolts on the ground constituency by constituency and that is where certainly over the last year we have been concentrating most of our efforts on constituencies, getting constituencies read, to make sure that they have all assets that they need to perform effectively and efficiently in an election and to win an election. So, that has been our focus really- setting up our plan, getting our national campaign team in place, preparing our policy papers and preparing our manifestos. But primarily making sure that at the constituency level we know exactly what it is we need to do to win those constituencies, one by one across the country.”
