Guatemalans Playing Malpago on Bill for Reef Damage
As we told you earlier, the Guatemalan government is yet to respond on a bill from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for damages caused to the reef when its naval gunboat ran aground near Glovers Reef in June. C.E.O. in the Ministry of National Security says they are yet to receive a response from Guatemalan authorities.
Ret. Col. George Lovell, C.E.O., Ministry of National Security
“Our relevant agencies did their investigations and their assessments and there was a claim, I know, that was sent from Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Guatemalan authorities for the damages to our reef. We haven’t received any response from them yet, in terms of the claim that was made but I can tell you there was a claim that was lodged with the Guatemalans based on what our various agencies have provided for us.”

Yeah. Imagine that. Why would anyone be surprised?
Why did Belize not seize that boat? That boat should be property of Belize Coast Guard, now. Instead we have this stupidness.
