Faber Wants to Be PM Someday

Patrick Faber

Earlier U.D.P. Collet Area Representative Patrick Faber spoke on the P.U.P., and on the prospect of coming elections, but he also took the time to speak about his own aspirations. It’s no secret Faber has his eye on the top spot, and since PM Barrow can only serve three terms as Prime Minister – if the U.D.P. win the next elections – in a few years the seat will be vacant. Today, Faber told us he is capable and very willing, but he’s also patient.

Patrick Faber, Minister of Education

“We’d have to think along those lines. I would be forced to think along those lines. Yes it is true that there was a constitutional amendment to Belize’s Constitution that says that the Prime Minister can only have three consecutive terms, so there is no question about Mr. Barrow continuing and in fact Mr. Barrow has long indicated that he won’t be there forever. That is only normal. And of course there are other people in my Party who have those leadership ambitions. As you have pointed out I do have such ambitions. But I am not in a hurry to go anywhere. As you know I am a very young man. I am a very patient man. I can wait. My primary focus at this time is to serve the people of the Collet constituency, or course to make sure that they are well taken care of and that they are doing all that they can do in partnership with my office and myself to develop the constituency. And of course my work in the Minister of Education…but I believe that if I do those two things properly, if I put myself forward for leadership of the United Democratic Party when that time comes, then such good works will of course be something that will help me along the way.”

Not to mention likes to take advantage of his post as minister of education and take advantage of young women looking for scholarships.

Oh, so you know also Anon. Yes, I heard of several of the SJC Sixth Form students and mothers who have been solicited by him in lieu of getting scholarships. My distant cousin left him because she was tired of the rumours and have said, out of her mouth, she walked in on him doing something. You all figure out the rest.
