Patrick Faber Says Fonseca is a Dictator
While the P.U.P. breathes a sigh of relief at a clear majority of the National Executive behind Fonseca, the U.D.P. continues to prepare for general elections which many speculate will be called before the current term of government expires. But politicians will be politicians, and the U.D.P. will always find time to take pot-shots at an Opposition, which has lost serious ground since the last general election, and in fact has lost two by-elections and a municipal election just this year. Today, Collet Area Representative Patrick Faber threw in his two cents on the group of P.U.P. standard bearers who have strayed from under the big blue tent.
Patrick Faber, Minister of Education
“I think that they are right and I believe this is what happens when you try to stifle democracy. You remember that they had some special meeting that had said that there won’t be a national convention and that in fact the leadership will go on right up to the next general elections and in fact none of those that are sitting area representatives could be challenged. Well that is absolute nonsense. In contrast with that, we in the U.D.P. have held our national convention. There is one due yes and we have agreed to delay it just a little bit until elections are held and we go fresh into it. But it’s not that we are running away from holding a national convention. I think our last one was in 2013 if I’m not mistaken. And you will see now that we have put in place all of our Standard Bearers that were not area representatives, that in fact if somebody wants to challenge they’re free to challenge. We have seen that happen to sitting Ministers in the U.D.P., and that is the way we believe things should be. But you cannot rule by might. I watch as Mr. Fonseca speaks about our Party Leader as a kind of dictator dictating to people what will happen. Well what better example than that he is a dictator himself – that he is refusing to call the National Convention that is due because he is afraid to put his leadership to the test. In our Party that’s not how it works, and that’s not true democracy if it is that’s the way they are running the show.”
Is this fool for real who is more of a dictator than judas barrow who governs like Fidel Castro.
Loyalty has always been paramount in the PUP and when Price was alive it made sense. But now, for the members to see there is a serious problem with the leadership but refuse to consider changing it….well that is just plain blindness that will probably cause them the general election. Blind leading the blind now…
I totally agree with you KMH. Well said.
