Former Sugar City Mayor Guilty of Causing Death by Careless Conduct
A jury of five men and four women found former U.D.P. Orange Walk mayor, Ravell Gonzalez guilty of two counts of causing death by careless conduct. The thirty-seven year old was sentenced for a traffic fatality that took the life of two year old Martita Lopez and Manuel Coto on miles thirty-five on the Phillip Goldson Highway back in June of 2008. Gonzalez was on his way from Belize City to his home in Orange Walk, when he hit Lopez and Coto. Late this evening, Justice Traodio Gonzalez imposed non custodial sentences and fined him four thousand dollars for each count. He was also ordered to pay one thousand dollars in compensation to the family of Lopez.

This is a insult to the family of the deceased individual.
