FCIB Bank Robbers Out on Supreme Court Bail

The alleged robbers of the First Caribbean Bank heist were granted bail today when they appeared in the Supreme Court before Justice Antonette Moore.  All four men, Patrick Jones, Emmerson Skyers, Jareth Crawford and Jermaine Belgrave, were each granted bail of eight thousand dollars, plus two sureties of four thousand dollars. They were given a number of conditions to follow. They must attend all court appointment, stay away from the police witnesses, stay employed, and report to the police station once a week, with the exception of Belgrave who must report twice a week.  But before they were granted bail, the D.P.P. who was represented by Crown Counsel Sabita Maharaj objected to bail on multiple grounds, including that the men are likely to commit similar offences when out on bail. In the case of Belgrave, the Crown Counsel told the court that there’s an affidavit against him by an eye-witness and that he has had multiple previous convictions; however, his attorney Bryan Neal submitted that Belgrave has two alibi witnesses. Jareth Crawford, who was represented by Leeroy Banner, told the court he had a previous conviction when he was younger and that he will go back to working. Jones, who wasn’t in court, had no previous convictions, as well as Skyers. The other person charged in connection with the incident is Erwin Castillo. He was slapped with conspiracy to commit robbery, along with Belgrave, Crawford, Skyers and Jones. He has yet to apply for bail. The robbery that the men are accused of took place on Thursday, July thirty-first and netted over fifty-thousand dollars. The surveillance camera footage from the building was used identify the suspects. The men are to return to court on September twenty-ninth, 2015.
