Student presumed dead in Bz. River drowning

As Belizeans search for a reprieve from the blistering heat in one of the nation’s many rivers and lagoons, there is news of yet another drowning, this time in the Belize district. According to the police, around ten thirty on Tuesday morning a group of family and friends were enjoying the waters of the Belize River near mile fifteen and a half of the Northern Highway in an area known as St. James, when one of the swimmers, sixteen-year-old student Leroy Sandoval, went underwater but did not resurface. Up until newstime, divers were still searching the deep waters–said to be home to several crocodiles–for Sandoval’s body.
