Finnegan Zeroes in on Audrey Matura-Shepherd

No House sitting in recent memory has lacked the requisite name-calling ad tawdry insults, and today there was more of that, aimed at Christian Workers Union president Audrey Matura-Shepherd. Member for Mesopotamia and U.D.P. Party whip, Michael Finnegan, did the honours, blaming Matura-Shepherd for the employee situation at FCIB while getting in a thinly veiled sexual shot.

“Weh this lady should do first of all…I noh wah call ahn wah empty vessel. I noh wah be unfair to ahn…and I noh wah say ih dah wah low-grade attorney; I will be very fair to the lady. But the lady must do her job as head of the union properly; stop behave quarrelsome man. when yo behave quarrelsome sir, for my sixty-five years of experience, you do not get things done, especially if you are representing people. If yo di represent yo own self and yo want be wah idiot and yow ah be wa quarrelsome, that is different because nobody else get hurt in the process. But when you are representing people, you have to give and take; yo have to conduct yoself with dignity, with decorum, etc….Sir.  Mr. Speaker yo know weh every Belizean public know…anytime this union leader get up and this union leader talk, all she talk dah Dean Barrow  and Dean barrow this and Dean barrow that…I noh know weh Dean Barrow do that lady. I noh know weh Dean Barrow do dah lady or why dah lady noh like this man. But you must do that lady something because every time dah lady get up, she is disrespectful of the prime minister of this country sir. I noh wah say that…I very respective to the lady because I think the lady has some abilities too sir. The lady obviously has some abilities, but she is not using the abilities weh she have in the interest of the workers and the interest of building her image. Nobody noh be attorney of law and dunsy and fool-fool. I don’t agree with yo. The lady must have some abilities and talent, sir.”
