Chamber of Commerce on B.T.L. Settlement

Still on the issue of the B.T.L. settlement, the Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry sent out a release today saying that while it had no fuss with the settlement of B.E.L. with Fortis, it was deeply concerned about the B.T.L. agreement. The Chamber says that the Prime Minister negotiated and bound our country to make a one hundred and sixty-two point seven million dollar payment with the possibility of yet further payments at the conclusion of outstanding arbitration. The BCCI says that the hasty move by government has caused confusion among Belizeans who are trying to understand how a settlement can be made official when the true and final financial cost is not known. The BCCI also calls for full transparency of the financial cost including the specific financial accounts that will be used to pay the final settlement.

  1. Ricky Malthus says:

The Chamber has no problems accepting the Fortis settlement but takes umbrage with the BTL settlement. Well I don’t know who speaks for the Chamber but both misadventures demonstrated colossal business incompetence, personal stupidity by the PM, and criminal indifference by Belizeans at large. Ab initio, Barrow displayed his stupidity in nationalization of these industries. He didn’t do his home work- cost/benefit analysis and his Ministry of Finance went along with his stupidity, and Central Bank( bastion of stupidity) , and his friends in UB. Think about it!!
