Garifuna Women in New York Sing for Pope Francis

And on a more positive note, hundreds of thousands have been turning out to greet beloved Pope Francis who is in the US on a hectic schedule.  The pontiff arrived in New York City from Washington DC on Thursday.  Earlier this morning, he addressed world leaders at the United Nations and moved on to Ground Zero for an inter-faith prayer service. But his visit at an East Harlem School also caught our attention. If you have been following his visit, you would know that the pope is known to do the unexpected to greet the people. Well, today he stopped at the school, Our Lady Queen of Angels where a group of children sang the lyrics of, “Make Me an Instrument of Your Peace,” known as the Prayer of Saint. Francis. He would then encourage others to sing. The following video shows two women who spontaneously followed suit and burst in song….  in Garifuna.

At the school, he told the school children to “Keep dreaming about living with joy since you have the right to dream and I am really happy that you…you can find the discipline to do it.”
