Sex Offender Kenrick Bowman is Out on Bail
After four nights on remand, sex offender Kenrick Bowman, is out free from the Belize Central Prison until his next court appearance. Last Friday Bowman was arraigned for a sexual offense against a fifteen year old minor and was granted bail by Magistrate Ladonna John which he was able to meet today. However, Bowman’s bail is set with a number of stringent conditions for which Magistrate John has ordered that he must surrender all his travelling documents even though he claims that his passport was stolen in a burglary at his house on Police Street in Belize City. To satisfy the court, Magistrate John also instructed him that as soon as he meets bail, he must furnish a police report indicating that his documents were stolen. Bowman was also ordered not to apply for any other travelling document while the case is before the court and that he must report to the Racoon Street Police Station on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Bowman has to stay away from the complainant and any other prosecution witness and he must remain living at the address to where he relocated after the allegations were made against him. On Friday, the prosecution had objected to bail being on the grounds that more charges are expected in the matter since there is an ongoing investigation involving other alleged victims. Bowman is charged with a single count of Engaging in a Sexual Activity in the Presence of a Child under the age of sixteen years. A minor is alleging that sometime in the month of January 2015, Bowman engaged in sexual activity in front of him for the purpose of obtaining gratification but a neighbor has told the media that other minors have been abused. Bowman’s next court date is set for November twenty-fifth, 2015.
